Who will benefit from heated gloves

Heated gloves make an excellent investment into your security, comfort, and warmth needed in a glove. There are many people and activities that benefit from heated glove.

With poor circulation, the feet and hands are usually the first to suffer in the cold as warm blood is unable to reach feet or hand in sufficient quantities to counter act the cold. As any sufferer of painful chilblains would know, exposure to cold damages capillary beds in the skin, which in turn can cause redness, itching, blisters. Heated gloves help by providing some gentle warmth at the region most needed.

When hands get cold, you start to loose the flexibility and mobility in your fingers thus affecting your grip. In the cold the sense of touch is also lost and simple activities become a challenge. Examples of activities which benefit from heated gloves are fishing, hunting, motorcycling, cycle touring to name but a few.

In work situations that are cold, heated work gloves also help with the productivity of staff due to making them better adapted to staying in the cold longer and still maintain the usefulness of their hands.

Choosing Heated Gloves

Heated gloves offer a number of features to ensure warm hands. Before buying a pair here are some things to consider:

Waterproof of heated gloves: Nothing quite chills the hands more quickly than wet gloves. If you are going to be in situation where they can get wet, ensure your heated gloves are waterproof.

Windproof nature of heated gloves:Wind can rapidly cool any object be it your hands, head or body. Ensure the wind won't sap the heat away from your hands by making sure the gloves are windproof.

Heat source of heated gloves: Heated gloves need to have a heat source, where it comes from is up to you. There are battery heated gloves which as the name suggest uses batteries to provide the warmth. Other solutions to provide the heat is replaceable chemical packs which you activate when the heat is needed, these can be a one time use only or recharged in hot water.

Region of heat provision: One important aspect to look out for when choosing a heated glove is where in the glove is the heat coming from, is just on the palms of your hand or are the finger tips heated.

Battery life of heated gloves: If you do go with a battery heated glove there is a tradeoff between battery size (amount of energy stored) and the time and heat provided. Some battery heated gloves have an adjustable heat output which is always good at helping conserve battery life and providing just the right amount of heat.

Battery type of heated gloves: Depending on how often you will use the battery heated gloves, you have the choice of generic rechargeable batteries or custom battery for the glove.

Size of heated gloves: Of course, ensure the glove is the correct size as too small will restrict circulation or too large will mean too much heat loss.

Whatever the heated gloves you buy, they make a great investment into your comfort, and warmth of your hands in cold weather.
